Top Head CRDM Visual Exams

Jamko offers dose, cost and time saving inspections to fully document reactor vessel cleanliness. Relying on years of experience and the latest in Remote Visual Inspection (RVI) technology, Jamko can provide detailed inspection footage that provides valuable insight on plant efficiency.

NRC mandated reactor vessel head inspections have proven to be both costly and time-consuming. With limited access, high dose rates, and the NRC’s documentation expectations, the upper head has posed a constant challenge for the utility. With this in mind, Jamko’s engineers have custom designed a crawler to meet the demanding criteria for this inspection.

THOR

The THOR robotic crawler with a clearance of just 1.9” is capable of maneuvering across the reactor head with the insulation in place. The steerable magnetic crawler is equipped with three cameras for navigation and inspection. The crawler is positioned at each control rod drive mechanism and performs a continuous 360º inspection uninterrupted. The unit can be operated from distances up to 300’.

ReactorView Software

With more than 100 penetrations on some reactors and complete coverage required, documenting your inspection can be a challenging task. ReactorView neatly compiles your data; complete with plant, unit, cycle, time, date, penetration, and angle of view. Images are stored and cataloged onto select choice of media, which can then be easily compared to past inspections. ReactorView can be customized to fit your plants specific requirements.
